A Week Called Holy

Today we gathered with friends from church for an in-home Bible study my church put together for “A Week Called Holy”. It was a time to contemplate where we are in the story of our lives, to reflect on and remember God’s work in our lives, a time of celebrate our fellowship with the Lord through taking communion, and a time of being amazed at what God has done and is doing in our lives and in our world. It ended with a short but very stiring video clip with a voice-over speech called “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s comin”.

Prior to Christ’s death on Good Friday, he had an incredible ministry on earth that must have been an exciting time to witness, but Friday brought to those witnesses a time of great fear, sorrow and uncertainty. But then Sunday came and changed everything. How true this is of my life right now. As the wedding draws near – just 3 weeks away now – there are tons of tasks yet to be accomplished, reminders of past pains and trials seem to be pouring out of the woodwork, and yet the sun is dawning on a new era in my life and I’m excited to see what God has in store. As we have planned this wedding, it seems like one thing after another has gone wrong. But every time something goes wrong, God has provided something grand to replace it. I guess the same could be said to be true of my whole life. Today we finished paying for the photographer, picked out music for the ceremony, and finally picked me out a wedding band.

It’s Friday (err, Saturday) but Sunday’s comin.
