No, I'm sure they wouldn't go for that with me. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses. Even with my glasses I didn't do too good on the eye test today. They have three columns with about 6 letters in each column. The center and right columns I think I got all correct, but the left column I guessed on all of them. I think they said my corrected vision was 40:40. I really want to have lasik done but Jeannie & Benjamin keep using up all the Health Savings Account funds. ;-)

About the eye restriction — I don't know how bad your eyes are, but a few years ago I asked them to remove the restriction on my license when I was getting it renewed. They just had me take the eye exam without my glasses on, and that satisfied them. Might be worth a try if you can see decently without glasses as-is.

I was really, really impressed with Blue Like Jazz. I had, just previously, tried to get into Mere Christianity, which attempts to show Christian belief to be the only natural conclusion to a philosophically rational evaluation of the universe. In other words, it was trying to tell thinking people how they can believe wholeheartedly and not abandon their intellect, too. IMHO it utterly failed, right from the start. After that attempt I felt strangely burned on Christian apologist writing in general.

I'm glad I didn't use that as an excuse not to crack open Blue Like Jazz. It's humble, and I believe that's its greatest strength. Where Mere Christianity's audacious reach exceeded its only-human grasp, Blue Like Jazz tells human stories to human beings. I believe it readily asserts how you can believe without abandoning your intellect, but it does so through the simple truths of what Christ asked people to do to each other. It uses the logic of common sense, not the logic of theoretical physics or sociology. But more importantly it tells beautiful and inspiring stories of grace flowing between all-too-human beings. Blue Like Jazz has definitely provided an inflection point in my thinking about God, the effects of which I probably won't fully realize for a long time to come.

I didn't know you had been reading it, but I'm thrilled to hear you liked it, too. :)

What do you mean you haven't proposed??? Have you lost your mind she's fabulous why on earth is she still around??? OHHHH that's right she thinks it's worth the wait. (I crack me up!! gotta love me) :-) Soon Bible study will be going again and I see good things in the near future it does seem that we aren't getting things done sometimes but we have made a lot of progress on the things we've been doing. It will all come together soon. Remember to breathe. Just in case I haven't said it lately....you make me happy.

What???? you haven't proposed to your girlfriend??? WHY on earth is she still with you? oh that's right she thinks the wait is going to pay off. Yes it has been fun lately hasn't it? Oh Just think your Bible study will be starting again soon. Things are a bit tough right now and money is definitely tight but just think things will be considerably better within the forseeable future. You make me happy see..... :-)

I thought this fit in nicely here. When I read this section the song popped into my head.

"God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way He will make a way"

Congratulations on getting your blog up and running. AND on getting one of your 43 things accomplished. I can't believe you have something to replace it with and I can't even come up with 43 things. :-) (couldn't resist putting a smiley)
